John Cassavetes was one of the most exciting filmmakers of the New York Film School, one who revolutionized American cinema. Besides directing poetic films of a personal tone, he also produced shows with his own theatre company, where he regularly appeared in various roles.

His legendary film, Opening Night is a captivatingly intimate confession about theatre and life as an actor. It is a harshly honest portrayal of a celebrated actress and her struggles, offering an insight into the mysterious world of theatre.

The Vígszínház’s production of Opening Night is the first stage adaptation of the film in Hungary, directed byMartin Čičvák with Enikő Eszenyi, Géza Hegedűs D. and Enikő Börcsök in the leading roles.
