József Wunderlich

József Wunderlich was born in Pécs, graduated from University of Theatre and Film Budapest in 2013 in the class of Eszter Novák and György Selmeczi. Before the University he attended the violin faculty of Bar­tók Béla Music Technical College. He plays the piano and sings very well. After his graduation he became a member of National Theatre Pécs, where he debuted in both musical and prosaic plays with roles like: Edvin in Csár­dás­ki­rály­nő, Billy in Krip­li or Ha­i­mon in An­ti­go­né. In 2015 he was invited by Enikő Eszenyi to join the company of Víg­szín­ház. In 2017 he is a founding member and a musician-singer since of the band The Grund – Boyband of Vígszínház. In the last years, he showed his talent in determining performances in the following musical leading roles: Radioman in The attic, Boka in The Paul Street Boys, or Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby. As a prosaic actor he showed his complex acting skills in characters like: And­rej in War and Peace, Lieutenant Schultz in The Great Dictator or the title role Baal in the performance Baal. In 2016 he got the Junior Príma Prize, and in the same year he was awarded with the Ruttkai Éva Memory Ring too. In 2017 he got the Soós Imre Prize and in 2020 the Ajtay Andor Memory Prize.
